Yesterday kicked off a new year of weddings for 28Twenty! It's been a few months since our last wedding, so we were actually a little nervous coming into the day! But we jumped right in and got into the flow of things, and the day turned out great. Christy & Sean were really an amazing couple to work with! Such a sweet, pure couple that obviously loves one another deeply -- my wife and I really enjoyed watching them together! We also appreciated the depth of spiritual significance they included in their day. It's been a very cool week for me and 28Twenty. It's been a busy month or so with inquiries for 2008, and this past week has been no different. We booked a wedding last night with Matt & Laura, which I'm excited about --though I have yet to meet Matt, he was sold on our demo, so I like him already! ;). As a relative newbie in the wedding industry, sometimes I wonder about the future of our business. Will it survive? Will it thrive? Could this turn into a full-time gig, or only be a glorified hobby? Then I have a week like this week. So much promise, so much hope! Encouraging words from brides-to-be, moms, even fellow videographers. Which brings me to an incredible email I received today from Matt Pine (Lifetime Video [1]). If you're a knottie, you've no doubt heard this name! He is the man around these parts when it comes to wedding video. So imagine me, just a little old greenhorn [2] in the business, receiving an email from this local icon (I know he'll get a kick out of this description). [Read more about that email here [3].] Well that was a few months ago. Today he shared some more cool words with me, but this time I got his permission... I went back on your site for the first time in a while, looks great! People get in this business for two reasons: money & the craft. You're in this for the craft and that is so cool. Not too many of us left. I would love to hook up and share some ideas... P.S. I'd be honored to be mentioned in your Blog. You have my permission :). Thanks for the kind words on our work." Needless to say, I'm pretty pumped about the future of 28Twenty! We're already facing the prospect of doubling our number of weddings for next year, plus I've got a great mentor and friend in one of the area's best and most experienced videographers. A beautiful day on Saturday with Matt & Jess as they wed at St. Celilia in Cinci. The church looked great, and Father Smith was such a kind, gentle old soul that made our job very easy. The reception was held at the Madison South [1]in Covington. I love that place -- great venue with great food and great service. We finally got to work with the Rachel from Rocket Tree Photography. [2] I say that somewhat tongue-in-cheek because of the conversations we had together about the business. It's funny -- in the wedding industry, you sometimes hear names dropped so often that you begin to elevate a person you haven't even met to some sort of cult celebrity status! But Rachel was very much down-to-earth and easy to work with, and Annette and I really enjoyed getting to know her and Carrie. Should be fun to work with them more in the future! Now a word about the REAL celebrities of the day -- Matt & Jess! I really don't think you could meet a sweeter couple! As we were still in the beginning stages with our business, Matt & Jess approached us about filming their wedding. I met with them in a little old Starbucks across from Kenwood Mall, and they eagerly jumped on board with us, without hesitation. I remember calling John immediately afterwards, telling him how this couple heard of us on some online message board called the Knot [3]! (Little did we know the impact this "little website" would have on our business!) Since then, Jess has been a vocal endorser of 28Twenty, having thrown our name out to the scores of knotties across the Queen City and beyond. I so greatly appreciate her support of us and their belief in the quality of our work -- I owe them a great deal, and I wish them the best in their new life together! The birth of Ridge

From the moment I first booked Brian & Claire for their 7/7/07 wedding, I was nervous that my third child (and third boy) would be born early. He wasn't due until July 30, and the only thing that would prevent me from doing this wedding was if my wife Annette was in labor on that Friday or Saturday. But just in case, I had a backup plan in order. Sure enough, though, Ridge came early! After the rehearsal Friday night in Centerville, Ohio, my wife called to tell me she was feeling a little "funny." As her parents were arriving in town from Kansas (impeccable timing!), I was returning home from the rehearsal. We headed to the hospital, realizing that we had the opportunity to have a prized 7/7/07 baby! I knew this was a major wedding day for many, but never did we consider having our baby born on that day! (By the way, I still made the wedding on a mere three hours sleep! Mad props to my partner John for dialing it up a notch that day, and especially to my wonderful bride for allowing me to still make the wedding!
