When you attend over 20 weddings a year, it can sometimes feel like the same gig every week — not much new is said or done. A lot of money is spent, a lot of food is eaten, and a lot of the same music is played. So when something different comes along, you remember it. Maybe it’s something about the couple, maybe it’s something about the ceremony or some other aspect of the day. But there’s just something that stands out from the rest.

Many times it involves a story.

Back in November, we filmed the ceremony and reception of Jeremiah + Melissa. We didn’t do any pre-ceremony coverage, which is usually a time where we get to know the couple a little bit. Part of this occurs as we do brief interviews with the couple, and get to hear some of their story. But even though we didn’t have this opportunity with Jeremiah + Melissa, we still got to hear their story. And boy, was it told in the most unique way! Their reception was held at the Glendale Lyceum (a great venue, by the way), and their band for the evening was Jake Speed & The Freddies, a local folk/bluegrass band. Now, this type of music may or may not be your thing, but there was certainly no debating that these guys are very engaging and entertaining! We can enjoy all types of music, so Annette and I really enjoyed these guys and this reception. Like I said, it was a very welcome break from the norm for us!

The best part was the story. But then again, it always is. How did this relationship begin? How have you gotten to this point? There’s always a story behind a wedding, and it’s what makes the day so special! We love to develop a relationship with each couple, to hear their story — because then the day has meaning for us. A wedding with no story is just a job, and that’s no fun!

Anyways, Jake wrote a song for Jeremiah + Melissa, telling the story of how they met. If you’re at all a fan of the movie Princess Bride (and who isn’t?), then you’ll recognize the title of this post. I’ll let you hear Jake talk about it, then sing it.
